Seriously — if you’ve felt a void in your life since The Wire and The Shield left airwaves, get caught up on the first season of Justified immediately. It’s like a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western disguised as a modern-day cop show, all wrapped up in the backwoods of a Faulkner-like Southern Gothic tale. Plus, it’s based on a series of stories written by Elmore Leonard, whose work has been adapted in great films like Get Shorty, Jackie Brown, Out of Sight, and 3:10 to Yuma.
So please — turn off CSI, NCIS, L&O, their respective acronym-ready spinoffs, and every other shitty cop procedural on TV and go rent/illegally download the first season of Justified. You won’t be disappointed.
